Fatal Plane Crash Reported Near Utah-Arizona Border South of Hurricane

A fatal plane crash near Hurricane, Utah, claimed the life of a 40-year-old woman Saturday morning, according to the Washington County Sheriff’s Office.

Emergency crews were dispatched shortly after 10:15 a.m. following reports of a downed aircraft just north of the Utah-Arizona border.
Emergency Response to Aircraft Crash Near Hurricane
Multiple agencies responded to the scene, including:
- Washington County Sheriff’s Office
- Hurricane Valley Fire and Rescue
- Utah Division of Natural Resources
- Bureau of Land Management
Authorities located the wreckage along a ridgeline southwest of Apple Valley, near the plateau at the state line.
The aircraft was identified as a fixed-wing, single-engine plane.
Pilot Confirmed Deceased
Responders confirmed that the female pilot was the sole occupant of the aircraft. She was pronounced deceased at the scene.

The pilot has been identified as a 40-year-old woman from Boulder City, Nevada. However, officials stated that her name will not be released at the request of her family.
The sheriff’s office expressed condolences to the victim’s loved ones and emphasized that the investigation remains active.
Investigation Underway by FAA and NTSB
The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) are assisting with the investigation into the cause of the crash.
At this time, the exact cause remains unknown. Officials confirmed that the aircraft had been flying with others, though no additional injuries have been reported.
Investigators are continuing to examine the scene, and further updates are expected once more information becomes available.
Location of the Crash
Authorities said the crash occurred near the Honeymoon Trail area in Washington County, close to the Utah-Arizona border.
Due to the remote terrain, emergency responders worked carefully to access the site.
