St. George Missing Teen Found Near Red Cliffs Recreation Area

A young woman who was reported missing late Tuesday night was found deceased Wednesday morning near the Red Cliffs Recreation Area in St. George.
The Washington County Sheriff’s Office confirmed that search crews located the body after an overnight effort involving deputies, search and rescue teams, and air support.
Search Began After Vehicle Was Found
Authorities received a missing person call just before midnight on Tuesday. During the early part of the investigation, deputies located the woman’s vehicle parked near a trailhead inside the Red Cliffs Recreation Area.
Because of the location, search teams were immediately deployed. Crews searched the area on foot while drones and a Utah Department of Public Safety helicopter assisted from the air.
The terrain and darkness made the operation difficult. As a result, officials paused active searching in the early morning hours and planned to resume when visibility improved.
Discovery Made Wednesday Morning
Shortly after 7 a.m. Wednesday, dispatchers received a report that a body had been found in the area. Authorities confirmed that the remains belonged to the missing teenager.
Law enforcement officials remained on scene throughout the morning as investigators worked to document and process the area.
At this time, the case remains under investigation. No additional details about what led to the death have been released.
Community Asked to Respect the Area
Officials asked the public to avoid the Red Cliffs Recreation Area while emergency crews continue their work. They also requested privacy for the family during this difficult time.
This incident has shaken the local community, especially due to the young age of the woman involved.
Ongoing Investigation
Law enforcement has not shared further information yet. Updates are expected as investigators continue reviewing evidence and conducting interviews.
