Washington City Woman Pleads Guilty in Fatal Family Attack

WASHINGTON CITY, Utah — Mia Bailey has entered a guilty plea in connection with the tragic deaths of her parents in Washington City. The incident, which shocked the local community, involved a violent attack inside the family home.
Bailey was accused of fatally shooting her parents, Gail and Joseph Bailey, and attempting to harm her brother during the break-in. The case drew significant attention due to its severity and the hours-long search that led to her arrest in June 2024.
Initially, Bailey pleaded not guilty to all charges, but in a court appearance this week, she changed her plea. She pleaded guilty while acknowledging her mental illness to an amended set of charges. These include two counts of aggravated murder and one count of aggravated assault.
Authorities have emphasized that Bailey’s case is being handled with consideration for her mental health, and the court will determine her sentencing in the coming months. The community continues to grapple with the impact of the tragedy, offering support to surviving family members and neighbors affected by the events.

This plea marks a significant step in the legal process, moving the case closer to resolution while highlighting the challenges of addressing violent crimes involving mental health concerns.
