What began as a small scavenger hunt along St. George Boulevard has grown into a communitywide event organized by Electric Edge Media and Shop Southern Utah. Krista Carter, who operates the marketing agency with her husband, Kreigh Carter, said the goal is to help residents notice shops they may otherwise pass by.

From a store hunt to a communitywide event
The idea began two years ago as the Blue Pumpkin Hunt. Participants searched inside businesses along St. George Boulevard and received discounts or coupons. The promotion created foot traffic, but crowded aisles and communication challenges made the original format difficult for some merchants.
After hearing that feedback, Carter shifted the hunt outdoors. The updated event draws inspiration from a spontaneous Easter egg hunt the agency organized earlier and gives families more room to explore at their own pace.

Expanding across Southern Utah
The event now reaches beyond St. George Boulevard. Shop St. George Boulevard recently became Shop Southern Utah, reflecting a broader focus on businesses throughout the region. Carter said nearly 20 businesses have joined this year and participation remains free.
“It’s about getting people in the door to see these really cool local businesses and what they have to offer,” Carter said. Even longtime residents can discover a shop, product or service that is new to them.
