HURRICANE, Utah — Change is on the horizon for Hurricane City as residents voted in a new mayor during the 2025 election. City council member Clark Fawcett won the race against incumbent Nanette Billings, marking a new chapter for the fast-growing Southern Utah community.
According to official results, Fawcett received 3,256 votes, while Billings received 1,556, giving Fawcett a commanding lead of more than 30 percentage points.
Fawcett is no stranger to Hurricane City leadership. Before serving on the city council, he worked as City Manager for more than 37 years, overseeing decades of growth and development that helped shape Hurricane into one of Utah’s most vibrant small cities. His long history with the community earned him strong support among residents looking for steady leadership and continued progress.
Billings, who began her term as mayor in 2021, has been at the center of a few controversies during her time in office, including a debate earlier this year involving campaign signage that drew local attention. While the incident sparked discussion, state officials determined that no laws were broken.
Still, many residents say they’re ready for a fresh start. “It feels like the city’s heading into a new phase,” one local voter shared. “We’ve seen a lot of growth recently, and having someone with Clark’s experience could help keep that momentum going.”
Fawcett is expected to officially take office in early 2026, and residents are already expressing hope that his leadership will bring continued improvements in infrastructure, parks, and community planning — areas he prioritized throughout his career.
As Hurricane continues to expand and attract new families, retirees, and businesses, the next few years will be key in shaping the city’s future. With Fawcett at the helm, many are optimistic about what’s ahead.
