UHP emphasized that posted speed limits are intended for ideal driving conditions. When rain occurs or roadways become slick, drivers are required to reduce their speed immediately.

State law mandates that whenever drivers see flashing emergency lights on the highway, they must slow down and move over to give emergency crews a safe space to work.
